CELLULAR HYDRATION
Why cellular hydration so important?  Hydration is another very essential step to whole body health. We are made up of over 70% water. That equates to10 gallons for a person of 120 lbs. Every metabolic function in our cells need water in our cells. Through perspiration, evaporation, and exhalation in intensive exercise, we could lose as much as 5 to 8 pounds of water. Studies show that for every pound of fluid lost, there is a significant drop in the efficiency with the body produces energy. 

Most energy is produced in tiny power plants within our cells called mitochondria. Our cells are completely dependant upon mitochondria to sustain life by generating energy. Water is imperative in the creation of energy. In fact, ATP has to be broken down by water in order to generate energy. So, as you can see, a low water environment means inadequate energy production. Water may also be an important way to control hunger pangs. In other words, when you feel hungry, you may actually be thirsty. Thus, by keeping yourself properly Hydrated, you can avoid false craving for food.

Water and Dehydration

Many of us have heard that drinking at least eight glasses of water is essential. We are made up of over 70% water. That equates to 10 gallons for a person of 120 lbs. OVER HYDRATION
Can you over hydrate? It is rare for people to over hydrate if their body's system are working normally.   Over hydration occurs when over kidneys are unable to excrete water normally.  People with heart , kidney or liver disease are more likely to develop over hydration because their kidneys are unable to excrete water normally.  To correct that problem would be to restrict the amount of water in take or adjust sodium intake in their diet.

 More and more people are drinking bottled or filtered water today because it’s cleaner water than tap water. The problem is these water are depleted of the vital minerals and electrolytes our body needs, plus they are acidic and tend to contribute to your body a condition prime for viruses, bacteria and other undesirable menace.  So when over hydrate with water that are depleted of these vital minerals and electrolytes, yes, it can do you more harm than good. Even fish can’t survive in water that is stripped of the essential minerals. Therefore over drinking water that are stripped of vital minerals and electrolytes could actually could even kill us.  

PROPER HYDRATION
Here is a simple guide as to how much water to drink. According to Dr. Michael Triglia, a person should drink half their body weight in fluid oz of water daily. For example, if you weigh 200 lbs, then 100 fl oz of water would be sufficient. If you are engaged in intensive exercise or activities, then more will be needed. A person who engage in very low level of daily activity may need a little less. Proper hydration is very essential for optimum health.
No body really knows what really is the proper amount. It varies from one person to another. But just eight glasses of water a day is really insufficient when you think of the billions of cells in our body that need water for all metabolic functions.  Water is needed in our cells for all metabolic functions. Proper hydration is also needed for body cleansing. I have found that when I drink the recommended amount of mineralized water by Dr Triglia, it made a great difference than when I only drink eight glasses of water a day.  

We can drink and drink, water simply pass through our body.  The water simply isn't being absorbed by your body cells.  Proper hydration is more than just getting sufficient water into our body but more specifically into our cells.


SPORTS AND HYDRATION
There has been a concern especially among athletes and marathon runner with dehydration and hyponatremia (over hydration).  One can  over hydration if you are just drinking   water that has no minerals or electrolytes that are being loss through strenuous sport activities which can actually do more harm than good.  On the other side of it is not hydrating enough and that too can cause a lot of problems.  The simple solution to these two problems is drink mineralized water like Xtreme X2O. I am SO happy with the personal results I have had from taking the Xooma Challenge. As some of you know, I hesitated to do it because I felt that weight training would interfere with my sprint distance triathlon hobby. But I did it anyway because I am a Xooma rep and wanted to know for myself how well the products work.



The pictures of me are from a triathlon I did last Saturday, which happened to be almost exactly on the 90th day of the challenge. This is a national qualifier race, with 940 participants.

I set a personal record by TEN MINUTES, and won a medal for the first time ever! This after gaining approximately 12 pounds of muscle on the Xooma Challenge. I placed 51st over all, even though I'm 41 years old and the vast majority of participants are between 19 and 35.

Water Fasting can be dangerous to certain individuals. It can also lead to healing, clarity of mind and a feeling of wellness unachievable by any other method.

Water Fasting is defined as the complete abstinence from all food substances except pure water. When properly conducted, fasting is one of the most potent tools available for helping the body in healing itself.

All organs and glands get a well-deserved rest, during which their tissues are purified and rejuvenated and their functions balanced and regulated. Pre-Fast Evaluation:

How Long to Fast:

Once an evaluation has been completed the next step would be to establish the duration of the fast. If fasting is new to you, don't go for a marathon fast your first time. Experimenting with 1 -3 days is advised.

Breaking the Fast:

After the Fast:

The most important period of the fast is the initial time after completing fasting. Too rapid return to food and activity can be harmful. The body must be given an opportunity to return to heavy food and physical activity, etc.

An interesting case of Bottled Water Labeling.

A Bottled water company which labeled their bottled water as “Spring Water” was being bottled from a water source consisting of a well at a facility next to a hazardous waste site. After news of this became public, a testing of the water showed it contained contamination from industrial solvents. Unfortunately, it was later determined that the labeling as Spring Water was not misleading because the water at times did come to the surface on its own at an unpaved area near the parking lot of the facility.

The facility was eventually closed.
